GMA-7's stable of artists continues to
make headlines worldwide after the Indie film Oros, featuring several Kapuso stars,
makes it at the 2012 Asiatica Festival in Rome, Italy.
Directed by Paul Sta. Ana, Oros became one of the finalists in the
New Breed Full Length Feature Category at the 2012 Cinemalaya Independent Film
Festival and Competition. The network proudly supports Kapuso artists Kristoffer
Martin, Diva Montelaba, and Kim Komatsu as they show off great performances in a
well-researched film like Oros.
Tween actor Kristoffer Martin earned
rave reviews from critics for his role in the film. His performance as a sakla operator was a revelation and he
stood out as an excellent performer for his versatility and dramatic
talent.
Being set in the slums of Manila, the film has
captured not only the problem of poverty but also conflicting relationships and
fragility of the characters. The film also maturely tackled death and
pornography. Oros has confidently painted how death may serve as a legal avenue
to hold illegal gambling operations as sakla.
Joining the cast are Kristoffer King,
Tanya Gomez, and Angelita Raymundo. It is co-written by Obet Villena.
Oros will be screened on October 5 at
the Asiatica Festival in Italy.
